Even though Jaleel started acted at the age of 3, he is best known for the role of Steve Urkel on the show TV sitcom Family Matters. During the 9 year run of the show, Jaleel won multiple awards, wrote several episodes, and had a doll as well as a breakfast cereal (Urkel-Os) created after his Urkel character. Jaleel also voiced the character Sonic the Hedgehog in 3 different Sonic animated series and even a fan film. Jaleel continues to work as a TV actor and screenwriter in Los Angeles.
